Residential Withdrawal Management (detox) Program
For many of our clients, Withdrawal Management (Detox) is the start of their recovery process.
Because each person experiences detox differently, we pay close attention to our client’s individual needs in order to make the process as smooth and comfortable as possible. Watershed assesses each client based on medical history, drug of choice, length of use and mental status in order to determine the most appropriate care.
Withdrawal Management (Detox), both medicated & non-medicated is designed to assist substance users to withdraw from the physiological dependency of the substance/s they are currently using and helps the body recover from the physical dependencies associated with substance use in a safe, supportive environment. Then our clients can go on to face the emotional and psychological challenges of living in recovery.
Detox at Watershed succeeds because we’re good at it, and because we care about it. Our programs employ a unique range of medical & non-medical therapies, all of them evidence based and tailored to each type of addiction.
At Watershed, our withdrawal management programs aim to make detox as fast and gentle as possible, so as to better prepare the substance user to face the challenges that lie ahead.
At Watershed the Withdrawal Management program lasts between 5 to 14 days, depending on which substance the client is detoxing from and includes a social and medical assessment, an early intervention plan, an individually suited withdrawal regime (medicated or non-medicated as required by the client) as well as a supportive individual and group counselling program.
Clients are supported through their detox stage with 24 hour care.
For most people detox is the beginning of the rehabilitation process, not the end. As important as the detox program is to long-term recovery, the time spent in detox is at best a precursor to everything that follows it. To that end, Watershed aims to integrate detox as intimately as possible into our specialised rehabilitation programs, thus allowing our clients to build on the momentum gained from the detox experiences in pursuing more comprehensive addiction treatment.
Addiction recovery never comes easy. But make no mistake, the effort is worth it. Treatment at Watershed turns lives around. To recover, after all, is for the client to rediscover the world as they used to know it, and themselves as they used to be. To recover is to remember why they ever believed life to be worth living in the first place. It starts with detox. And, more importantly, it starts with the client themselves.
