Turning Lives Around
What are the options?
Watershed has 3 residential options and a non-residential Day Program, and you can move between these depending on your needs and your stage of substance use and/or recovery.
Once you’ve contacted us, our admissions staff will do an assessment with you on the phone to ensure you are entering the program that best meets your needs.
Once the assessment has been completed & approved, you will be placed on the waiting list for the next available admission date.
Due to the extremely high demand for access to our residential beds, you will need to pay an up-front ‘bed deposit’ in order to secure your place.
Staff will give you further information about anything you need to do and we’ll send you an information pack with everything you need to know.
Withdrawal Unit – Residential
The Watershed Withdrawal Management program (detox) can last five to fourteen days, depending on which drug you need to withdraw from, and includes an individually suited withdrawal regime (medicated or non-medicated) as well as a supportive individual and group environment.
Rehabilitation Service – Residential
This is a four-six week residential rehabilitation program which includes Group Work, Case Management, Living Skills, Health Promotion Activities and introduction to aftercare options.
Transitional Living Program (Carinya)
If you have completed a rehabilitation program (including at a service other than Watershed) but would like longer term residential support, Carinya may suit your needs. As well as providing longer term accommodation and recovery support, Carinya can assist you over a longer period of time to resolve FACS or housing issues and help you access work or study options.
The Day Program is in Wollongong CBD and is a flexible, non-residential option. You have the option of up to a 9-week program which includes Group Work, Case Management and Crisis Counselling. This program is designed to educate and minimise harm for those who can’t or don’t want to attend residential rehabilitation. This program may be ideal for those who are wishing to continue with their pharmacotherapy programs and wish to access additional drug and alcohol support. The flexibility of the program also makes it ideal for parents of younger children, and support includes those living with or exiting from domestic violence situations. Men’s and women’s groups are also offered. Longer term support options are also available after you’ve completed the program.
What Happens on Admission?
If possible, have a support person bring you. Your support person is welcome to stay while you are being admitted.
How much does it cost?
While you are at Watershed, you are responsible for meeting your financial obligations
Rights and Responsibilities
All clients must read and agree to our resident agreement which outlines the service guidelines and rules, confidentiality and client’s rights. You’ll be sent this with your info pack but you can also view it here.
